Your messages were printed out, laid in between lanterns on the beach. Each lantern help create an outline of the Indian Ocean region. I'll do my best to create a full accounting and storytelling of yesterday's Global Vigil. Until then, treat your eyes to 7even wonderful black&white photographs of YOUR global vigil yesterday at Your Waitress Photos'. Another Global Vigil, with your Candlelight messages, is being planned. Details to be announced. Thousands of people have already read your candlelight messages and Tsunami related reflections shared on this webpage. Many more will continue to do so in the days and weeks to come. Read through the messages from candles already lit. Feel free enough to continue sharing your thoughts and feelings here, at anytime, by lighting another virtual candle, leaving your thoughts for others. umm... that's it for now, more later. ~ HiMY! ~ Here's your chance to light a virtual candle for tsunami victims. Place as many candles as you wish anywhere on the globe above by clicking then adding your name, message and choosing your own candle. I've had feedback that NORTH AMERICA doesn't appear on the map. Hence, people chose NOT to place any candles at all. :-( Well sorry folks, the above map is a photograph I took of a sculpture of the Earth, in Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco. The scuplture clearly shows the faultlines of the tectonic plates alive in the Indian Ocean. The region directly impacted by the Earthquake and subsequent Tsunami on Dec. 26th. If You live in North America or South America or anywhere else 'off the map' please reconsider and place a candle ANYWHERE on the image above FOR the people affected. :-) Moreso, you are invited and encouraged to light as many "virtual" candles as you wish below with your own words, thoughts, reflections for the one month anniversary of the Tsunami Disaster, coming up tomorrow Wednesday January 26th. Your shared words below will be printed out and become part of a 1,000 foot wide and 3,000 candlelight outline of the Tsunami affected Indian Ocean region. This giant outline will be created at Ocean Beach, San Francisco, this Wed. Jan. 26th. from circa Noon til sunset. The 3,000 candlelight vigil will last until dusk. We hope to light upwards of 3,000 homemade tea-light lanterns at sunset. But we need one virtual candle lit below for EACH real-life candle to be lit on the beach. Before sunset we will spell out H-O-P-E in the middle our giant beach map in giant letters, as seen in these photos from our January 9 Global Vigil: Global Vigil home page :: Return to Lighting a Candle :: Search Messages I hafta post some text here explaining everything simply.... but if you stumbled here from a test weblink, here it is: light a candle, leave a message, I'll print it out, each printed out paper will be used to create a giant outline of the indian ocean and tsunami affected areas, and REAL tealight homemade lanterns will be lit at Sunset on Wednesday January 26th 2K5, at Ocean Beach, SF. ~ HiMY! ~ |
